Twenty-five years. That's a long time to spend together. The band Garish now has this “silver” in front of their chest and a big common story and many small stories in their hearts, brains and under the hood.
On the occasion, they not only tell it themselves, but also let them tell it: On the record “Hands up, I can stand you,” which will be released in May 2023, friends and companions, but also musicians from other artistic dimensions, gather around the band. They recalibrate a potpourri of Garish songs - some with, some without the original artists; some that are already well-worn, but also completely new.
This “resocialization project,” as the band itself calls it, brings to light astonishing facets of a music group whose often seemingly unrewarded pioneering role in Austrian indie pop is ultimately undisputed. The six, seven or eight Amadeus nominations are more likely to give one the status of Martin Scorsese than to amount to a complaint: the intransigence and longevity of the work and creation radiate far more.
For Thomas Jarmer, Julian Schneeberger, Kurt Grath and Markus Perner, the essence was always something different: the joy of being on stage - and they didn't let that take away from them, on the contrary: “The stories I have are worth the trouble “, as it so beautifully says in “Then I’ll take heart”. A Garish concert: more than ever an emotional high mass - especially on the anniversary, with guests. “Hands up, I can stand you” will be released in May 2023 as a vinyl LP and on all digital platforms. At the concerts in Vienna (May 28th) and Oslip (May 17th) guests from the
