AR Project is a formation founded in 2021 by bassist Anna Reisigl, which includes a rhythm section (Florian Reider - piano, Anna Reisigl - bass/composition, Raffael Auer - drums) with a two-part unit of vocals and saxophone (Valerie Costa - vocals, Stefan Eitzenberger - saxophone).

AR Project “makes you sit up and take notice with its interesting line-up with an instrumental voice and saxophone as the front line, as well as Anna Reisigl's sweet, detailed compositions.” (Ö1 jazz editorial team).

The quintet's music moves in the area of jazz with extra-stylistic influences and aims to create rhythmically more complex music without losing melodiousness. The compositions are based on rhythmic patterns, are mostly found in odd meters and offer a lot of space for spontaneity and improvisation.

“The different things simply mesh together in the most beautiful way and form an incredibly fresh language of jazz that opens up in a gripping and wonderfully varied way. [...] The quintet's music simply grooves properly, it creates a lot of atmosphere, tense arcs are formed in it, in which quiet moments and exuberant improvisational passages find equal space in a stylistically comprehensive manner." (Michael Ternai, music austria)

The formation has already performed at various (jazz) festivals in Austria. In spring 2023, the formation toured Austria with their debut album Close Bye (Session Work Records). In autumn the quintet will present its second release - a double EP entitled Vienna Sessions.

AR Project won TAT Publication of the Year 2023 and the Joe Zawinul Prize from MUK. This prize, sponsored by Raiffeisen Vienna - my city bank, is awarded once a year in the form of a project scholarship by the MUK Vienna, which is one of the leading international jazz training institutions. During this concert, the Joe Zawinul Prize 2024 will also be presented, which is awarded every year by a broad jury consisting of experts from the MUK, the Zawinul Foundation for Achievement, critics, organizers and musicians from the independent Scene.
