Noëmi Waysfeld & Blik (France)

In her new programme, Noëmi Waysfeld, vocalist of Jewish-Russian descent, sings with a warm alto voice about "inner exile" without gender, borders or geography and takes an intimate look at the associated emotions. Zimlya, "Earth", is the name of the new album, in which she thematically ties in with the previous albums and uses not only Russian but also French - a return to domestic realms, back from the emotional language of Yiddish. She is accompanied by the congenial trio Blik, which picks up on influences from klezmer, musette, tango and gypsy jazz.

The Sargfabrik is tucked away in the fourteenth district, well away from the usual tourist track. Built on the site of a former coffin works, it was conceived as a ‘communal self-governing housing project with an advanced cultural programme’

This is where world music in all its variety is at home. A huge range of musical groups play at the Sargfabrik every week.
What they all have in common is their individuality and the high standard of the performances.
