The Vienna Tschuschenkapelle is a fixture of the Austrian musical landscape, famous for exuberant concerts and musical originality.
For more than three decades we have seen ourselves as ambassadors of cultures, with particular attention to Austria and the Balkan countries. Our repertoire consists of traditional and self-composed songs from the Balkan countries, serenades from the Mediterranean, Turkish-Arabic-Oriental tunes, Greek Rembetiko, Bosnian Sevdalinka and much more. We go on trips to Russia, explore the Viennese song (after all, it's called the Vienna Tschuschenkapelle), experiment with gypsy jazz and even venture into classical music. Our music is originally arranged, well played and delivered with humor and charm. With a performance by the Vienna Tschuschenkapelle, we guarantee your audience an enjoyable and at the same time sophisticated evening without any sprinkling or superficial slapstick. (Slavko Ninic)
“May the black nights devour you, lover, why have you left me?” says the first song on the first album “Die Schwarze”. That was in 1990. Since then, a lot of water has flowed into the Black Sea and almost even more odd rhythms have been played. The repertoire initially included traditional music from the countries of the former Yugoslavia, Greece and Turkey. Later the Viennese song also found its place in it. Jazzy elements were added as well as classical ones. Ober-Tschusch Slavko Ninić has been presenting all of this since 1989 in the best Viennese emcee tradition. (press release)
