Spinning Wheel - Celtic Folk (Austria)

A kaleidoscope of Celtic music: beautiful ballads from Ireland and Wales, lively jigs and polkas from Scotland and rhythmically stirring Mouthmusic. Musical inspiration on the one hand is folk, which touches the listener particularly because of its direct and unadulterated origins and the technical-acoustic sound. On the other hand, storytelling: Celtic songs and songs tell of suffering and love; weeping and laughing; of human greatness and weakness; of birth and death. The trio makes these roots of our society audible and tangible.

The Sargfabrik is tucked away in the fourteenth district, well away from the usual tourist track. Built on the site of a former coffin works, it was conceived as a ‘communal self-governing housing project with an advanced cultural programme’

This is where world music in all its variety is at home. A huge range of musical groups play at the Sargfabrik every week.
What they all have in common is their individuality and the high standard of the performances.
