Tineke Postma 'Aria'

Saxophonist and composer Tineke Postma is one of the most prominent and respected musicians to emerge from the vibrant Dutch scene, and has been touring internationally as a bandleader since 2003. With a six-CD album catalog, she was named a "Rising Star on soprano" in the 2019 Downbeat Critics Poll and performed alongside the likes of Herbie Hancock at International Jazz Day.

Tineke is a musician full of invention and creativity who is not afraid to explore the unknown and is inspired by the master Wayne Shorter, who once told her before a joint performance on stage: "Let's start composing". Her last album FREYA, released in March 2020, marked the beginning of a new era for Tineke. After a few years of performing more as a guest soloist rather than a bandleader and being active in her role as a mother, this album marked a new beginning with a new label, refreshed energy and an exciting band with an output inspired by the experiences , which she has collected throughout her career.

For her new album ARIA, Tineke has put together a new band consisting of the successful and highly acclaimed guitarist Ben Monder, bassist Robert Landfermann and drummer Tristan Renfrow. This extraordinary group embarks on an adventurous journey and explores new areas and diverse possibilities for interpreting their work. (Jazz Federation Hamburg)
