...An abrupt tempo change with piano staccato, saxophone interjections and drum rolls ultimately convinces the good-natured CD buyer that this is not a conventional piano trio, but rather a musically subversive triumvirate, well-versed in editing and collage techniques, whose leader Hannes Löschel also proves to be an intelligent composer... (From the jury's statement on awarding the Hans Koller Prize 1997 "Album of the Year")
Unconventional ideas and unbridled sonic richness – this is how the trio Löschel/Skrepek/Zrost won the Hans Koller Prize in 1997 for their debut album "While You Wait". Two seemingly endless decades later, pianist Hannes Löschel, drummer Paul Skrepek and saxophonist Martin Zrost reunite – and (inevitably?) win again, this time receiving the Ö1 Pasticcio Prize. Their second album vividly tells the story of the indomitable ship "Waldorf Hysteria" – navigating between shallows and monsters, nonsense and entertainment. (Johann Kneihs, 2018)
LSZ was founded in 1995, which justifies the age in the band name. A perfect reason for a round musical birthday celebration. Wicked stuff! CH
