A breath of fresh air is blowing through the chamber music scene: the "Chain of Moments Quintet", an innovative ensemble that fuses genres and pushes musical boundaries, presents itself in an extraordinary collaboration with the internationally acclaimed pianist Aruán Ortiz. This unique concert promises an exciting journey through different worlds of sound - from classical chamber music to jazz and free improvisation.

The origin of the CMQ can be traced back to a visionary project ("Three Views of a Musical Piece" - February 2024), which was conceived by the Austrian composer Barbara Bruckmüller. She presented three different arrangements of her composition "A Chain of Moments - Suite in five Movements".
The first arrangement offers a fascinating interplay between piano and string quartet that emphasizes the delicate nuances and intricate melodies of the piece. In the second arrangement, Bruckmüller expands the soundscape with a lively jazz sextet, lending the composition rhythmic dynamics and improvisational flair. Finally, the third arrangement features Bruckmüller's jazz orchestra, complemented by the rich textures of a string quartet and the virtuoso skills of Ortiz on the piano.

Inspired by the positive response to their first collaboration, the members of CMQ (Joanna Lewis, Maria Salamon, Magdalena Trobos, Cornelia Burghardt, as well as Bruckmüller and Ortiz) - outstanding musicians characterized by their passion for experimental and innovative music - decided to explore new musical paths together.

The energy and creativity of this ensemble paired with Aruán Ortiz' unique style create an extraordinary dynamic. This concert also serves as a release event for the 3-CD album "Three Views of a Musical Piece", released in August 2024, on which all three versions of the five-part suite "A Chain of Moments" can be heard.(press release)
