The concert is a combination of a release party for Douglas Linton's solo album "Lucky 13" and a benefit concert for the VinziRast emergency shelter.
Douglas Linton, a singer-songwriter from Texas living in Vienna, performs his own songs that cover a wide spectrum of Americana music. The Courier described him as a "brilliant songwriter" and "like a secret cultural ambassador of the USA." His music remains true to the folk, soul, blues, and songster tradition, while simultaneously continuing this tradition with vibrant storytelling and an undeniable rhythmic pulse.
During his time in Vienna, he has had the fortune to share the stage with Hans Theessink, Erik Trauner, Andy Baum, Inga Lynch, Meena Cryle & Chris Fillmore, as well as Dominik Plangger & Claudia Fenzl. Through his participation in Hans Theessink's legendary Birthday Bash concerts, he had the opportunity to share the stage with Eric Bibb, Dana Gillespie, Vlado Kreslin, Eleanor Shanley, and Insingizi. He is a founding member of the Vienna-based band "Douglas Linton & The PlanBs."
The new album features duets with Hans Theessink and Erik Trauner, as well as contributions from Helmut Mitteregger (mandolin), Claudia Fenzl (violin), Ben Brokke (piano), and the shimmering vocals of Anja Klipic & Ina Eckhard. A significant contribution to the album comes from the omnipresently talented Robin Gillard, who provided drums, bass, and inspiration, and produced the album.
The proceeds from the concert will go to the VinziRast emergency shelter. VinziRast is an independent, non-profit organization that has been working with homeless people since 2003. In eight different projects, they accompany and support individuals who live or have lived on the margins of society. People affected by poverty, homeless individuals, refugees, people with addiction experiences, and those living in precarious conditions often suffering from social isolation find a place of humanity again. VinziRast provides shelter, time, attention, and a dignified life in community. Everyone can do something. We all belong together.
