„In search of new musical challenges, drummer Jim Black gathers some of the most exciting musicians of the young Berlin jazz scene around him: Asger Nissen on alto saxophone, Julius Gawlik on tenor saxophone and bassist Felix Henkelhausen. Together they are Jim & The Schrimps – a rhythmically explosive jazz quartet that captivates its audience with energetic improvisations and irrepressible joy of playing.

Inspired by musical role models such as Elliot Smith, Stina Nordenstam, and Ornette Coleman, the four musicians interpret original songs written by Black. They are noticeably influenced by the diverse experiences of the New York drummer but live above all from the energy and individuality of each band member. The result is a raucously energetic sound that challenges both the band itself and its listeners.“ (Michaela Brosi)
