Kadero Ray ("The voice of Maghreb") sings with a fine yet powerful voice about great wishes, dreams and, time and again, love.
Kadero Ray was born in Oujda (Morocco) and thus grew up right in the center of Raï music. Due to his special voice, Kadero became known as a Raï singer in Morocco and internationally at a young age. He has lived in Austria since 1997, where he founded the VIENNA RAÏ ORCHESTRA together with Otto Lechner in 2001.
They play "Raï", a lively fusion of Berber, folklore and Afropop that originated in Morocco and Algeria, to which the ensemble has added a few jazz elements. The North African pop songs are considered to be self-confident, modern music, which, especially through the compositions of Kadero Ray in collaboration with Austrian musicians, point in a completely new direction within Raï music on an international level. PORGY and BESS Jazzclub
Porgy & Bess (actually, Jazz and Music Club Porgy & Bess ) is a jazz club in the Riemergasse 11 in the 1st district of Vienna. The club , founded in 1993 is considered " the most important jazz organizer and trendy meeting point " of the Austrian capital .
The program of Porgy & Bess speaks to a very large audience , about 70,000 guests a year ; is accordingly Jazz " understood very pluralistic ," and the program " even in fringe areas , such as electronic music , contemporary music and world music penetrated .
