... Dekade Five ... 42 years of jazz!

Loud & wild continues even after the Lungau Big Band's celebrated 40th anniversary in 2023!

It is extremely rare for a jazz orchestra to exist over such a long time, continuously offering interesting programs, presenting renowned soloists from all over the world, and inviting composers to write new music.

Thus, the Lungau Big Band has developed into one of the most active and remarkable jazz ensembles in the country, delighting audiences with varied programmatic approaches and keeping themselves energized with a wide range of musical challenges in infectious playing spirit!

The list of past guests and all the wonderful memories associated with them is long. Just a few names:
Hubert von Goisern, Nils Landgren, Josh "Socalled" Dolgin, Randy Brecker, Gunhild Carling, Bobby Shew, Angela Tröndle, James Morrison, Jiggs Whigham, Tony Momrelle, Bob Mintzer, Michael Abene...

"With Flip-Flops in the Alps" — this was how the debut album by deeLinde & Emiliano Sampaio was introduced in the Ö1 Spielräume by Johann Kneihs in 2024, telling of the musical fusion of two distant musical cultures.

With "Alpen Bossa," the two continue this journey and expand their mutual cultural appropriation. A brilliantly performing big band constantly dances between alpine terrain and Brazilian beaches.

Alpine yodels and mountain songs merge with choros, hot rhythms, and thirds. Coconuts and scarlet runner beans indulge in tasty pumpkin seed oil.

With "AlpenBossa," the Lungau Big Band, together with the DUO, sets new milestones in music history and invites you to enjoy a dual-intercultural sound experience.

The compositions and arrangements by Emiliano Sampaio are naturally captivating. Don’t miss the shows!
