The famous Italian fairy tale about the Christmas witch Befana is transformed into humorous and reflective opera theatre, bringing young and old alike into a festive mood.
The witch Befana listens blissfully to the shepherds singing of the birth of the Christ child in Bethlehem. She wishes to fly there immediately on her broom to see the child, but she is constantly delayed because so many people need her help. When Befana finally arrives at the stable in Bethlehem, the Holy Family has already moved on. Heartbroken, she meets the Three Wise Men, who are actually preparing to return home...
