Inspired by Roy Hargrove and his project "The RH Factor", the young trumpeter Firudin Hamidov founded the band H3 Collective a few years ago.
The current 8-piece band mixes jazz harmonies with smooth hip-hop rhythms and adds elements of Azerbaijani music, especially mugham. The result is unique, mostly groovy music in which the brass section (trumpet, saxophone, flute) plays a special role.
The band's first studio album with the self-explanatory title "Fargly" ("Different") was released in the fall of 2023. 7 original compositions as well as pieces by Azerbaijani jazz luminaries Vagif Mustafazade, Rafig Babayev and Rauf Hajiyev in completely new arrangements highlight the musical versatility of H3 Collective, especially bandleader Firudin Hamidov and keyboardist Afshin Alizadeh.
After performing at numerous festivals in Azerbaijan and neighboring countries, a European tour is planned for autumn 2024.
