The Vienna Opera Summer returns in July 2027 with a spectacular new production: Let yourself be transported to Ancient Egypt and experience Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece, “Aida.”

Giuseppe Verdi's *Aida* is one of the world's most popular operas and captivates audiences with its moving story of love, betrayal, and duty.

The story is set in Ancient Egypt and tells of the Ethiopian princess Aida, who lives as a captive at the pharaoh’s court. Aida and the Egyptian general Radamès are secretly in love. But the pharaoh’s daughter, Amneris, also desires Radamès and becomes Aida’s rival. When Aida’s father, the Ethiopian King Amonasro, pressures his daughter to reveal military secrets, she finds herself caught in a painful conflict between love and loyalty. After Radamès inadvertently reveals important information to the Egyptians, he is sentenced to death for treason. In the poignant finale, Aida follows him into the tomb, where the two face their fate together. With its impressive music, famous choral scenes, and a timeless love story, Verdi’s *Aida* ranks among the greatest masterpieces of opera and remains a highlight on the repertoires of opera houses worldwide to this day.

The 4th Vienna Opera Summer – “Aida” will take place again in July 2027 at the Vienna Skating Club’s venue on Heumarkt in the heart of Vienna.
